Making Stuffed Animals

This is a 6-week class centered around the process for designing and making unique stuffed animals! We will cover all steps of the process including pattern making and design. Students should be familiar with the basics of hand sewing as all sewing done in class will be by hand. Students are welcome to use sewing machines on their own time, but we will not be using them in class.
Each week of class will have a specific focus to guide students through the steps of the process, but students are welcome to make multiple stuffed animals if they choose. Reclaiming materials will be explored, along with printmaking and embroidery for embellishment purposes.
Week 1 - creature design and pattern making
Week 2 - choosing fabric and making a mockup
Week 3 - adding, removing, and adjusting elements
Week 4 - creating and adding accessories
Week 5 - stuffing and finishing
Week 6 - sharing and photographing
Some basic materials will be provided for creating your stuffed animals, but you are encouraged to bring your own found materials, fabrics, and accessories to experiment with as well.
