FAQ

  • A sliding scale system is a tool that allows our business to adjust service fees based on our customer’s self-identified income. This is our way of addressing income inequality and creating fairness and accessibility to our programs.

All of our offerings have a sliding scale option. To use a sliding scale, you just need to determine how you self-identify in your own economic background. You can read the next question “How do I know where I fall on the sliding scale?” to get a sense of where you might land.

If you are booking a class or workshop, look in the description for the coupon code that corresponds to the price you are able to pay. If you are purchasing a membership, our scale is displayed in the form of separate products that you can purchase.

  • It is important to recognize that the highest price listed is the price at which our business can currently best meet the needs of our instructors, staff, and community. If you are choosing a lower-priced tier, you are, in essence, receiving a discount. This is fine if that is what you truly need to join our programming. The scale is meant to allow access, not create guilt!

Here is a simplified way to imagine the scale:

-The lowest price is for those who struggle to meet basic needs and paying for this service would be a significant hardship or economic strain.

-The middle price is for those who are able to meet their basic needs. Paying for this service may qualify as a sacrifice, but it would not create longer-term financial hardship.

-The highest price is for those who are comfortably able to meet basic needs. Paying for this service might still be a sacrifice, but there is financial security.

Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher tier prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility.

  • Parking in the C-ID can be tough. If you are able to, we recommend walking or taking public transit. If driving, please factor in the time it might take to find available parking.

Most streets in the area are pay to park with a 2-hour limit from Monday to Saturday between 8am-8pm. Please note parking is $4.50/hour from 11am-5pm. Parking is free on Sundays.

Free 2-hour parking can be found on a strip of S King St between 8th and 12th Ave South from 7am-6pm. After 6pm the 2-hour limit expires and you can park as long as you want. This is about a 5-8 min walk away from our studio.

There is a parking lot right across the street from RECC on 8th and Weller:
    0-1 hours $3
    Each additional hour $3
    4-10 hours $15

  • Beginning August 1, 2023 we are updating our mask policy following CDC guidelines from masks required to masks strongly encouraged, but not required. If there are surges in respiratory viruses, we reserve the right to reintroduce mask mandates for the safety of our community, and we may still require masking for certain events and workshops depending on various factors, so be sure to check all email notifications. Please be diligent about bringing and providing your own masks as we will not guarantee them being available at our front desk moving forward.

Do not come to the studio if you are feeling unwell and please continue to respect the personal space and boundaries of others.

In order to continue to protect our community with this change, the studio will get two deep cleanings per week and we will run our triple HEPA air filters throughout the day. Owners and staff are also fully vaccinated and boosted.

  • We recommend bringing your own hand towel or apron. Additionally, please remember to remove any jewelry, tie back long hair, and wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Pottery is not tidy or clean. When you're starting out things can get a little messy, but don't worry as clay washes off easily! All other materials are provided.

  • To request a cancellation and/or refund, you must email info@reclaimclay.com.

Classes and workshops can be cancelled for a full refund 7 days in advance. If less than 7 days we can offer a 50% refund. No refund is available within 48 hours of your scheduled class or workshop. Should a class or workshop not fill sufficiently, we may cancel it 3 days prior to the first class session.

If you would like to cancel your membership, we require notice at least one week before the end of your current month. When you cancel your membership you will continue to have access to the studio and its resources through the end of the month in which you canceled. Your membership will then end on the first day of the following month. We do not prorate memberships.

  • Due to the nature of our schedule and limited class sizes, you will not be able to do make-ups. If you miss a class, you should schedule open studio time to practice. Please email us at info@reclaimclay.com to make arrangements.

  • Yes but you need not be a professional. If you are comfortable with clay, have taken a few classes and want to practice and improve your skills, RECC is the perfect option. You will gain more knowledge and experience from our members through the communal support system and classes/workshops we offer.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to freeze or reserve memberships as it presents significant challenges in terms of tracking and also removes space for others waiting to gain access to the studio.
