Intro to Riso 2: Digital

This class is designed for beginners, but intended as a supplement to pair with our Intro to Riso 1 class. You will be expected to have familiarity with running a Riso machine on your own, and knowledge of basic Riso printing functions.
This 3-hour class will cover best practices and considerations when printing digital images on the Risograph: layout, color separation, file prep, installing Riso print drivers, and printing from a computer to the Riso machines. We will show demonstrations on how to color separate photographs, tips for file set up in Procreate and other design programs, and touch on considerations for designing and printing zines. We will do a digital test print together as a class, and then each participant will have the chance to run the machine themselves and print 10 copies of a 2-color design for themselves and enough to trade with classmates so everyone has a Riso collection to go home with.
All printing materials will be provided. You will have some time to design your artwork in class but time will be limited. You may also prepare and bring a design with you to class. Please bring your own iPad or laptop and any digital files you may want to talk through printing. If you do not have access to a computer, we do have a studio computer you can print from if you bring in a flash drive file.
**This class alone will not qualify you to book open studio time with our Riso**
